Dr. Williams (Loading - Spring 2026)

I am Charles Edward Williams II, a doctoral candidate in Social Work and Sociology at the University of Michigan. My research explores the role of the Black church in addressing racialized health disparities and expanding access to the social safety net in historically underserved communities.

Grounded in Du Boisian sociology and community-based participatory research (CBPR), my work examines how Black religious institutions function as culturally trusted sites of care, policy resistance, and community mobilization. Learn More here
